Four people were transported to Buffalo hospitals following a collision between a car and tractor-trailer on the Thruway just south of the city, according to state police.
The accident happened on Friday morning in the west bound lanes of I-90, in the town of Hamburg.
The driver of the tractor-trailer attempted to cross from the passing lane to the driving lane, causing the passenger car to slide sideways and lodge under the tractor-trailer.
One person was airlifted to the hospital while others were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
Three people were injured, including two in the car that was trapped under the tractor-trailer, reports Buffalo news.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Both westbound lanes were shut down for more than an hour following the crash.
Charges are pending while officers investigate the cause of the crash.
