A school accident report recommends firing an administrator and teacher for their lack of response to an incident that claimed the life of a student.
Eric Law, 17, died from a head injury he received after falling from another student’s truck on school property during school hours.
The Knox County School’s report strongly recommends termination for the teacher and administrator and details a breakdown in communication after the accident occurred. It further explains how it came to pass that no medical help was sought after the student was injured.
The report also indicates another teacher said the student was “alert and slightly disoriented” after he was moved from the office. He was able to answer basic questions and had a small amount of blood on the back of his head.
Included in the report are multiple attachments outlining the incident as relayed by students and faculty and includes administrators’ responsibilities in such instances.
