Have you ever been bit by a dog. This weekend I was walking in my edition and a stray dog I can be describe as a large mutt came up and started growling at my wife and I. To complicate things further, we had my two and half year old in the jogging stroller. Being the upstanding man I am (facetious), I got between the dog and my wife and child. The dog followed us for about 100 yards before finally leaving. The whole time I just thought to myself that here we go, I’m about to be torn up by a dog, have to undergo rabbies shots, and most likely have scarring on what can best be described as a chiseled body (I can say this given I don’t have a picture circulating on the net that I know of).

After the excitement of the moment, I began to wonder what would have happened if the dog had bitten me. Obviously, I have had an enormous amount of medical bills, missed work, and emotional scarring (I’m a dog lover and already find myself distancing and more careful around neighborhood dogs). I next became mad at the owner and wondered what person would let this dog run free.

The moral of the story is this. Individuals carry insurance on their homes which protect them of liability if their dog bites an individual. Remember this if you or a loved one are injured by a dog and please contact a lawyer who will protect your interests.
