Proctor & Gamble, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of 700,000 packs of Vicks Dayquil Cold & Flu 24-Count Bonus Pack because the packaging was not child-proof.
The packages, which are not child resistant, lack the statement,” This package for households without young children, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.” If consumed by a small child, this medication can lead to serious health problems and even death.
To this date there have not been any reports of incidents in conjunction with the recall.
The recalled medicines come in orange packaging with the green Vicks symbol. The UPC No. is: 3 23900 01087 1.
Consumers who purchased the product with the expectation that it would be in child-resistant packaging can contact Procter & Gamble for a full refund or a replacement coupon. Adult consumers can continue to use the product as directed.
