Telebrands Corp. issued a voluntary recall of Therma Scarf scarves in the U.S. and Canada, because the packs can overheat when heated in the microwave, posing a burn and fire hazard.

To this date, the company has received seven reports of the packs overheating, including five fires, three of which resulted in property damage to the microwave. Two of the five incidents occurred in Canada. There have been no reports of injury.

The recall involves scarves that have pockets and microwaveable heat packs, sold in black and camel colors at Bed Bath and Beyond Stores as well as at mall kiosks and over the Internet. For a picture of the recalled item, refer to the CPSC Web site.

Consumers are advised to return the recalled heat packs to the retail store where it was purchased for a refund. If purchased through an infomercial or over the Internet, consumers will be contacted by Telebrands with instructions.
