Toshiba, working in cooperation with Health Canada and CPSC, announced a voluntary recall of certain notebook because the batteries can overheat at the plug-in to the AC adapter, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
To this date the company has received 129 reports of the notebooks overheating which included two reports of minor burn injuries that did not require medical attention. There was also two cases of minor property damage reported.
The recall involves Toshiba Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite Pro T130 notebook computer models. They were sold at electronic stores and other retailers nationwide, as well as online at ToshibaDirect.com and various other Web sites. [View Photos]
Consumers should download the latest version of Toshiba’s BIOS computer program to their notebook at: http://laptops.toshiba.com/about/consumer-notices. The program works to detect if the computer is overheating, and if so, disables the computer’s external power and display message directing the consumer to contact the company for a free repair.
