Slow cookers have been voluntarily recalled by Burlington Coat Factory, working in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, because they can overheat and melt, posing a fire hazard.
No injuries have been reported, to date. But the manufacturer has received 60 reports of the control panels melting, smoking and sparking. In three of those cases, the panels caught fire. And in fourteen incidents there was minor property damage.
The recall involves Bella Kitchen 5-quart programmable slow cookers with model number WJ-5000DE and date codes 0907 or 0909. View photos of the recalled items.
Consumers should unplug and not use the recalled slow cookers. They can be returned to any Burlington Coat Factory for store credit or a refund.
