A registry for small batch manufacturers was launched by the CPSC today. The agency was directed by Congress to establish the registry which was signed into law in August 2011.

Small batch manufacturers are defined as businesses that earn $1 million or less in total gross revenues from sales of consumer products during 2011 and who made no more than 7,500 units of at least one consumer product during 2011. To register for 2012, visit www.SaferProducts.gov.

To qualify for testing relief, you must register as a small batch manufacturer each year. By registering, you get relief from certain third-party testing requirements.

For more on the Small Batch Manufacturers Registry and more, please see www.cpsc.gov/smallbatch.

Effective December 31, 2011, the stays of enforcement on third-party testing and certification for limits on total lead content for children’s products, the ban on certain phthalates for children’s toys and child care articles, and the mandatory toy standard (ASTM F963) will end.
