Parents with small children should be aware or of a recall involving a Fisher-Price toy that could injure their child.

Fisher-Price, of East Aurora, NY, announced that the company is recalling the Little People® Builders’ Load ‘n Go Wagon because the design of the toy handle utilizes a molded-in reinforcement that adds stiffness and makes it easier for a child to grip, but creates a hazard if the child falls upon it.

According to a release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), seven children have suffered injuries from the toy, including five children who required stitches or surgical glue to treat cuts.

The recall involves 208,000 Little People® Builders’ Load ‘n Go Wagons in the USA and 2,800 in Canada.

The toy is a red molded plastic wagon with yellow handle, multi-colored plastic blocks and dog figure. A label on the side of the wagon says “Little People® Builders” and “Fisher Price” is embossed on the yellow handle. Consumers can find the model number P8977 on the bottom of the wagon.

Green-handled Little People® Builders’ Load ‘n Go Wagons are not included in the recall.

Parents should take this toy away from their child and call Fisher-Price at (800) 432-5437 or visit the company’s website for a free repair kit.
