Polaris Industries Inc., in cooperation with the CPSC, announced a voluntary recall of 2009 Polaris All-Terrain Vehicle (ATVs) because the valve assembly can fail in freezing temperatures, causing oil to leak into the exhaust system which in turn poses a fire and burn hazard to riders.

To date, there have been six reported incidents linked to the recall which has resulted in three small fires.

The recall involves 2009 Polaris ATVs sold under market names Sportsman ESP XP 850 and Sportsman XP 850. Below are the recalled model numbers:
