Playtex issued a recall of Hip Hammock infant carriers in the U.S. and Canada because the buckles on the waist and shoulder straps can break, posing a fall hazard to children.

To this date, the company has been notified of 87 reports of the buckles cracking and breaking. Two reports involved injury in which one infant needed emergency room treatment.

The hip hammock is an infant carrier that is designed to strap the baby against the caregiver at the hip. It’s made of soft, quilted fabric. All model numbers are involved in the recall and they are: 05300, 05301, 05302, 05306, 05307 and 05308. The CPSC news release also has photos of the recalled items for reference.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled carriers and to contact Playtex for instructions on how to return the product to receive a refund.
