PetSmart, working in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), issued a voluntary recall of glass fish bowls because they have the potential to break, shatter or crack during normal handling which poses an injury hazard to consumers.
To this date, the company has received 10 reports of the glass fish bowl breaking during use, including five reports of injuries ranging from cuts to stitches and in one case surgery to repair a lacerated tendon.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled fish bowl and to return it to any PetSmart store to receive a refund.
This recall involves 1.75 gallon glass fish bowls that are shaped like a brandy snifter. They were sold under the brand name Great Choice or Top Fin with SKU number 5140161 and UPC code 737257187092.
