Mayborn USA voluntarily issued a recall of baby monitors in the U.S. and Canada due to a strangulation hazard posed by the sensor pad wire that can become wrapped around the child’s neck.

To this date there have been no injuries or incidents reported. But the agency urges consumers to immediately make sure all monitor cords are out of reach. Mayborn should be contacted for a free cord cover kit and warning label about the strangulation risk which includes revised instructions for use.

The recall involves two models of the Tommee Tippee Monitor and Movement Sensor Pads sold at Toys ‘R’ Us, Babies ‘R’ Us and Amazon since 2011. The recalled items include models 1082S and 1094S (which include a night-vision video camera). Photos of the recalled monitors can be viewed on the CPSC Website for reference.

For more information, contact Mayborn USA toll-free at (866) 214-1537 or online at http://www.tommeetippee.us/ and click on “Safety Recall” to order the free cord cover kit and for more information. Additionally consumers can report any dangerous product or product-related injuries by visiting www.SaferProducts.gov.
