Munchkin Inc., working in accordance with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a voluntary recall of 34,000 Bathtub Subs Toys. The intake valve on the bottom of the toy can suck up loose skin, posing an injury hazard to young children.
According to the CPSC News Release, the company has received 19 reports of injuries that have involved lacerations to boys’ genital area, to date. Medical attention was required in one incident.
The recall involves battery-operated bathtub submarine toys. The toys were sold at retail stores nationwide from November 2009 through September 2010. [ View Photos ]
Parents and caregivers are urged to stop using the recalled toys and to contact Munchkin at (877) 242-3134 for a free replacement toy. You can also visit them online at http://www.munchkin.com/.
A voluntary recall, involving these same toys was also issued in Canada.
