Haier America, working in cooperation with the CPSC, issued a voluntary recall of LED TVs because the neck support can break which could cause the unit to tip over, thereby posing a risk of injury.
To this date, the company has received 184 consumer complaints of the units cracking or breaking but there have been no injuries reported.
The recall involves Haier 42-inch LED TVs with model number LE42B1380. They were sold nationwide at Fry’s Electronics and various other stores as well as online at Amazon.com among other online retailers.
Consumers are urged to detach the TV from the stand and to keep the TV and base stored in a safe location, away from young children. The company should be contacted for a free replacement stand neck that can be used with the original base. If the unit is mounted to a wall, it can be used but a free replacement neck should be ordered.
