The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) filed an administrative complaint against Baby Matters, LLC maker of Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners, following five infant deaths.

The complaint contends the infant items contain defects to the design, instructions and warnings, which poses serious injury risk and death to infants. The complaint seeks to require the company to notify the public of these defects as well as offer refunds to consumers.

The agency is aware of four infants that died while using the Nap Nanny Generation Two recliner and a fifth death was linked to the Chill model. Additionally, the agency received more than 70 incident reports of children nearly falling out of the product.

More information involving the complaint and associated risks can be found on the CPSC Website. Commissioner Statement: Statement of Commissioner Nancy Nord.
