Wireless activity-tracking wristbands by Fitbit have been voluntarily recalled in cooperation with the CPSC because users are at risk of developing an allergic reaction to the stainless steel casing, materials in the strap or adhesives that are used to make the product.
The result can be blistering, redness and rashes where the skin has been in contact with the tracker. The recall involves 1,000,000 sold in the U.S. and 28,000 in Canada.
This recall involves Fitbit Force wireless activity-tracking wristbands with the following model numbers: FB402BK, FB402BKS, FB402SL and FB402SLS. The devices works as a pedometer, a sleep monitor and also watch. A photo of the recalled item can be viewed on the CPSC Website.
The company has received more than 9,000 reports of the wristband causing skin irritation and more than 250 reports of blistering. The recalled items were sold at several stores online and offline including Amazon.com, Brookstone, Target and others.
