250,000 Swing Sets Recalled Because Children Can Fall When Parts Rot and Fail

Parents should be aware of a recall of swing sets sold at stores such as Target and Walmart because their child could suffer injuries in a fall if parts of the wooden swing set fail.

Adventure Playsets, of Pittsburg, KS, is recalling 240,000 Adventure Playsets Wooden Swing Sets because the company has received more than 500 complaints about rot weakening the 2×4 plastic coated uprights. In one report, a child suffered bruises and scratches when a swing set ladder failed.

These swing sets are wooden structures consisting of a fort component with swings, slide and ladder.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) release, parents can find the model on the instructions that came with the unit.

Affected by the recall are the following Adventure Playsets that sold for between $300 and $600:

If parents have one of these swing sets in their backyard, they should not let children or anyone else use it until they make a repair.
