Odor reports, including musty, moldy odor, has prompted the recall of one lot of Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets. The recalled product was manufactured in February, 2009.
This voluntary measure is being taken out of an abundance of precaution, as the risk of serious adverse medical events is low. The odor has been linked to the presence of trace amounts of a chemical known as 2, 4, 6-tribromoanisole (TBA). This chemical has been associated with non-serious GI symptoms.
The recall involves:
Tylenol, Extra Strength Caplets, (225 count) with Lot Number ABA619 and UPC Code 300450444271.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled product and to contact McNeil by visiting them online at www.tylenol.com or by calling them toll-free at 1-888-222-6036 for refund instructions.
If you have used any of the recalled Tylenol products and are concerned, please call your medical doctor right away.
