Swan Golden Raisins have been recalled by Peekay International because they may contain undeclared sulfites. People that have a severe sensitivity to sulfites are at risk of suffering a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction should these products be consumed.
Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfites sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. However, to date there have been no reports of illness in conjunction with this recall.
The recall involves Swan Golden Raisins in 7 oz and 14 oz sizes. They were sold in Brooklyn and Queens, New York City areas.
The recall was prompted after a routine test by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors found the presence of undeclared sulfites which were not declared on the label.
Consumers should return the product to the store of purchase for a refund. For more information call 718-366-6100.
