A possible Salmonella contamination has prompted Jones Natural Chews Co., to recall Pig Ear dog chews.

There have been no reports of illness. The recalled dog chews were recalled in several states including New York. They were distributed between September 15, 2010 and November 2, 2010.

A list of the recalled dog chews and affected UPC codes can be viewed on the FDA Web site.

There is a risk to humans handling contaminated pet products. Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
