While Salmonella can affect animals eating the contaminated products, humans are also at risk from handling the tainted products. Healthy persons that are exposed to salmonella should monitor their health for symptoms which include cramping, nausea, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. In rare cases the infection can be life threatening. Consumers should contact their doctor immediately if they have been in contact with the recalled products and are displaying any unusual health symptoms.

Pets with Salmonella may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, vomiting and fever. Often times they will also have a decreased appetite. If your pet consumed the product call your veterinarian immediately.
