Did you know that The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides several mobile apps for a variety of devices that can be extremely useful and easy to use for safety information and updates on the go? Below is a list of some of our favorite apps that you can and should start using if you aren’t already so you can stay on top of popular health news and more.

CDC Mobile App – A companion app to the CDC’s main Website, it helps to provide a variety of health information and updates as they become available right on your mobile device.

Can I Eat This? Avoid Travelers’ Diarrhea by downloading the CDC’s “Can I Eat This App,” that can tell you what is safe and what isn’t. Don’t let Montezuma’s Revenge ruin your International vacation when the CDC can help give you safe choices and options.

FluView – Experiencing the flu is never a fun experience, so use this app to monitor trends and activity levels across the U.S. and get on-demand access to state health department websites for local statistics. More than 30 million patient visits a month are reported.

Health-e-cards – This app is just for fun – browse through more than 100 free health-e-cards to send to friends, co-workers and family on a variety of health topics. Another just for fun mobile app is Solve the Outbreak – interact and solve a disease outbreak.

Preventing Chronic Disease Journal (PCD)According to the CDC, “As a nation, 75% of our health care dollars goes to treatment of chronic diseases.” The PCD app brings the user the latest and most relevant peer-reviewed research on public health efforts to prevent chronic disease.

WISQARS – This app provides fatal and nonfatal injuries in the US and also highlights preventable public health issues including – motor vehicle accidents, prescription drug overdoses, violence against children and youth and more.
