Some Doggie Wishbone Treats Recalled By Merrick

Comments Off

A single lot of Doggie Wishbone pet treats has been recalled by Merrick Pet Care, out of an abundance of precaution, because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recall involves 248 cases distributed to 10 states. The affected items are ITEM # 29050, UPC # 2280829050, Lot 11031 with Best By 30 Jan 2013.

Salmonella can adversely affect animals. They may become lethargic and experience some or all of the following symptoms: diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever, vomiting and decreased appetite. Infected, but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals. If you are concerned that your pet may have consumed the tainted product, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.

The FDA warns that there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products. However, thoroughly washing your hands after handling the treats can prevent infection.

There have been no illnesses reported to date.

Unused potions should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund. For more information, contact Merrick Pet Care at 1-800-664-7387.
