Kaytee Recalls Bird Treats and Greens

Comments Off

Several bird treats and greens have been recalled by Kaytee Products due to a possible contamination of Salmonella from parsley flake ingredients contained in the product from an outside supplier.

To date, there have been no reports of pet or human illness in regards to this recall. Salmonella can affect animals, and also pose a health risk to humans handling the contaminated products. The single most important thing that humans can do is wash their hands and the surrounding surfaces after contact with these items.

The FDA Website has a complete and detailed list of all the recalled items and their corresponding UPC code and Best By dates. The recalled products were distributed in several states including New York, Texas and Washington.

Consumers are urged to contact the company at -800-Kaytee1 (800 529-8331) to ask any questions regarding pets that may have consumed the product. Pet owners can also visit their website for more information at http://www.kaytee.com/.
