Two Deaths Prompt Recall Of Toy Dart Gun Sets

Comments Off

Family Dollar Stores issued a voluntary recall of more than 1 million toy dart gun sets after a 9-year-old boy in Chicago, Ill. and a 10-year-old boy in Milwaukee, Wis. choked to death on the darts.

The recalled toy dart guns were imported by Henry Gordy International and sold exclusively at Family Dollar stores. The company is working in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission because the importer has refused to recall the toys.

“If a child places the soft, pliable plastic toy dart in his/her mouth, the toy can be inhaled into the throat and prevent the child from breathing,” said the CPSC News Release.

Parents and caregivers are advised to take the recalled toy sets away from children and to discard them. Or they can be returned to any Family Dollar store. For more information call (800) 547-0359.
