Comments Off

Sony, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of certain VAIO TZ-series notebook computers.

The notebooks have irregularly placed wires located near the computers hinge and/or a dislodged screw inside the hinge that can cause a short and overheating – posing a burn hazard to users.

To date, the company has received 15 reports of the units overheating. One report included a consumer suffering a minor burn.

Included in the recall are the VAIO VGN-TZ100 series, VGN-TZ200 series, VGN-TZ300 series and VGN-TZ2000 series. Consumers should contact Sony to determine if their computer is affected by the recall.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled notebook computers and to contact Sony if they have a recalled unit. The company will arrange for a free inspection and repair if needed.
