Nestle Cookie Dough Back In Stores With New Labeling

It’s been nearly two months since Nestle Toll House cookie dough was recalled after being linked to E. coli. Now the company is sending its first shipments to stores.

The new cookie dough will have a blue “New Batch” label and a warning on the package that reads “Do not consume raw cookie dough.”

The FDA has finished its inspection of the company’s factory in Virginia, according to Nestle. Last month, the agency said the strain of E. coli found in a sample of raw cookie dough taken from the Nestle plant did not match the strain linked to a 30-state outbreak.

E. coli contamination is a dangerous bacterium which can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and kidney failure, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems.
