LED Light Bulbs Recalled by Lighting Science Group

Lighting Science Group is recalling LED Light Bulbs because they have the potential to overheat, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.

To this date, the company has been notified of 68 incidents in which the product failed, eight of those were accompanied by smoke and/or fire conditions. The reported incidents involve damage to several items including carpets/floors, light sockets and lamps. However, there have been no reports of personal injuries.

The recalled 12-volt LED bulbs were sold at various retailers and electrical supply stores nationwide. The items were marketed under the following brand names: Definity, EcoSmart, Sylvania and Westinghouse, with model numbers A19, G25 and R20/PAR20. The CPSC Website has a complete list, including date codes, of the recalled bulbs.
