Fred and Friends has issued a voluntary recall of pacifiers, in the US and Canada, in cooperation with the FDA, because they fail to meet federal safety standards.

The Artiste pacifiers have a ‘beard’ on the knob of the pacifier which can detach, posing a choking hazard. Additionally, the ventilation holes on the Volume and Panic pacifier guards are too small.

To date there has been one report of the knob on the Volume pacifier dislodging, but there have been no reports of injury.

The recall involves three types of Fred & Friends Chill Baby pacifiers which include: Artiste (UPC 728987021282) with a black plastic beard and mustache, Volume (UPC 728987020599) with a black volume control knob and Panic (UPC 728987020605) with a red panic button. Photos of the recalled items can be viewed on the CPSC Website.

Consumers are urged to take the recalled items away from young children and return them to the company to receive a refund of $12. The company is providing consumers with a postage paid envelope to return them. For more information, call  (855) 346-6372 or visit them online at www.fredandfriends.com and click on Pacifier Recall.
