Fisher-Price Recalls Rock ‘N Play Infant Sleepers

Comments Off

Fisher Price, working in conjunction with the CPSC, issued a voluntary recall of Rock N’ Play infant sleepers because mold can develop between the cushion and plastic frame when it becomes wet or moist, posing a risk of exposure to mold to infants in the product.

Mold has been associated with respiratory illnesses and other infections, warns the agency. While mold may not currently be present, it can occur after regular use with the product. To this date, the company has received at least 600 reports of mold developing on the product. 16 consumers have reported that their infants have been treated for respiratory issues, hives and coughs after sleeping in the carrier.

Consumers and caregivers are urged to inspect the removable cushion for mold. The presence of gray black or brown spots can indicate mold. If mold is found, the product should no longer be used and Fisher-Price should be contacted for cleaning instructions and assistance.
