Dishwashers Recalled By Maytag Due To Fire Hazard

Maytag, in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of 1.7 million dishwashers due to an electrical failure in the heating element that can pose a serious fire hazard.

To this date, there have been 12 reports of heating element failures that have resulted in fires and dishwasher damage. No injuries have been reported.

The recall involves Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley brand dishwashers. The CPSC News Release includes photos of the recalled dishwashers for reference.

Below is a list of the serial numbers involved in the recall. Serial numbers start or end with one of the following sequences:

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled items immediately and to disconnect the electric supply. Please note consumers should not return the recalled dishwashers to the store of purchase, but should contact Maytag directly.
