Diestel Turkey Products Recall for Contaminationo

Comments Off

A Tuolumne County ranch has recalled prepared turkey products that were distributed within six states because they are contaminated with listeria (a fatal bacteria).

Diestel Turkey Ranch, Thursday, recalled over three tons of packaged turkey sent to stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas and Washington after the U.S. Department of Agriculture found a piece of turkey was contaminated with listeria during routine federal testing. To date, no illnesses have been reported.

Listeria can cause violent stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting. Old, young and those with weakened immune systems are prone to listeriosis, a disease that can be fatal or cause miscarriages in pregnant women.

Diestel Turkey Ranch recalled six and seven-pound plastic-wrapped packages of:

Herbed Oven Roasted Turkey Breast

Chipotle Peppered Turkey Breast

Naturally Smoked Boneless Turkey Breast

Peppered Turkey Breast

Naturally Smoked Uncured Turkey Breast with Pastrami Seasonings

The recalled turkey meat has the expiration date “March 28th” on the labels.
