Summer is in full swing in most places and with that usually comes more barbeques and parties and outings. If wine is  on the menu, be sure to read this recall warning about the Coravin,  Wine Access System. The units are being recalled in conjunction with the CPSC, in the US and Canada, because the system can cause wine bottles to break during pressurization, posing an injury hazard to users.

To date, the company has received 13 reports of bottles breaking, including one incident in which a bottle burst into four pieces injuring the user which resulted in two chipped teeth and a laceration that required stitches.

The recall involves Coravin 1000 Wine Access Systems that are used to penetrate the cork of the wine bottle to allow wine to be dispensed without the cork being removed. Photos of the recalled product can be viewed on the CPSC Website.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled wine system and to contact the company for a free repair kit. The wine kit should not be used on wine bottles with flaws or damages.

For additional information regarding this recall, please call Coravin at (844) 267-2846. Alternatively you can reach the company via email at update@coravin.com, or visit them online at www.coravin.com, and click on “Important Safety Announcement – Recall to Repair” for more information.
