STOK Island Grills and STOK Quattro Grills sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores are being recalled due to 569 reports of leaking propane gas from regulators.

According to a release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), One World Technologies Inc. is recalling 87,600 STOK Island Grills and STOK Quattro Grills imported from China because a defective regulator on the grill can leak propane gas and pose a fire and burn hazard.

Consumers may have purchased these STOK grills for $79 to $350 at Home Depot stores or Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores nationwide between March 2011 and February 2012.

The STOK Quattro Grill is rectangular four-burner grill with an enclosed cabinet underneath. The STOK Island Grill is a round two-burner grill on a cart like base. Both grills are labeled with the STOK brand name.

Consumer can identify if their STOK grill is affected by this recall by looking on the grill’s regulator for the model number “AZF” on the front and a date code between 1046 and 1143 on the back. If consumers find they have a defective regulator, they should immediately stop using the grill and contact One World Technologies at (800) 867-9624 for a free replacement gas regulator for the grill.

The company has traced the regulator malfunction to a rubber seal dislodging from an internal lever arm that controls gas flow. Guangdong Chant Group of China manufactured this model regulator since 2003 and there are 3 million in circulation.

For instructions on removing and installing the regulator, see STOK’s Frequently Asked Questions.

One World Technologies Inc. is unaware of any injuries related to the defective regulator.

The company is recalling another 1,400 of these STOK grills in Canada.
