Several New Traffic Safety Bills Signed

Comments Off

Eleven new measures were recently signed by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio that are intended to improve traffic safety as well as reducing pedestrian fatalities.

These bills are among the first in de Blasio’s wide-ranging Vision Zero Plan, intended to make the city streets safer while stifling a rise in pedestrian deaths.

The measures include tougher penalties on tax drivers that are involved in serious collisions. They will also allow slow speed zones around schools while making penalties on drivers that fail to yield to pedestrians and bicyclists more tough.

We also recently wrote about legislation passed by state Senate could lower the speed limit in New York City  from 25 mph from 30 mph.
